The Warning

Dead End
an invitation for the Hang Man
who points his finger towards my new beginning
then he pats me on the back
He pours me another round of what is hardly
appropriate for the lonely
softens your suffer and your pride

You raise your glass and say you're beyond the bend
know what broke you will never break you again

This is your warning like shot
This is the point of knowing what you have not
You count all your blessings and you spit through your teeth
Take care with the remnants of what you need

New Year comes
my Independance Day hard fought and won
leaning in to hear the starting gun
I strip the sheets and douse the bed
I know well this fall
It's best to be humble when you're facing the wall
In the mouth of change the ignite and the stall
patience, patience please

And all these words
are just comfort at best
cut the bone out under the skin
and discard what is left

This is your warning like shot
This is the point of knowing what you have not
You count all your blessings and you spit through your teeth
Take care with the remnants of what you need

I wave my fear back under the bed
alone I sleep but I am hope well fed

This is your warning like shot
This is the point of knowing what you have not
You count all your blessings and you spit through your teeth
Take care with the remnants of what you need

This is your warning
