I had the incredible pleasure of working with a new photographer in June, Briel Johnson, who runs Five Petal Design and Photo. We spent an afternoon shooting in Portland's Washington Park rose gardens before shifting gears by moving to an empty downtown industrial loft (have you been to the rose gardens?!? Sitting on stone steps, surrounded by downed wet ginko leaves, surveying the park, I felt as if I had stepped into an Ivory Merchant film). Briel is one of the most naturally talented photographers with whom I have ever crossed paths. She made me feel not only at ease, but absolutely beautiful (even when my lips were blue). Her work is now featured on the front page and will be promanant on the new tour poster and record packaging. I could not be more pleased.
